James & Kay Pruitt, with KJ’s Cocker Spaniels have kindly shared their story about their beautiful Cocker Spaniel Hope. CH Coldry's Black Tie Affair - bred by Coy & (the late) Adrianna Grimes. Her call name was chosen as a symbol of the desire of her breeder to defeat cancer. “HOPE” finished her American Championship with the help of long time friends and co-owners; James & Kay Pruitt of KJ’s Cockers, Minden Louisiana. The Pruitt's are sharing Hope's story & their success with rebuilding her coat with Pure Paws products that they have used since 2005.
Here is the story that Kay has shared with us.
Hope was born in October 2008. She was the last cocker spaniel litter bred by Adri Grimes. Adri was very proud of this litter. The cancer that Adri fought for so long became more aggressive, and Hope was never shown. In September 2009, a month before Adri passed away, she asked if we would co-own Hope with them. Little did we know that this would be the last thing she would ask us to do for her. We took Hope home with us and began an intensive Pure Paws coat care regimen. Sadly Adri passed away in October 2009 before we began showing Hope in March of 2010. Hope finished her championship August 20, 2010 at a Cocker Spaniel Specialty in Greeley, CO winning not only Winners Bitch but also Best of Opposite Sex to Variety. Only two weekends prior to this she won Best of Variety, All Breed Group Four, and Best in Specialty Show. Many times judges remarked on Hope's beautiful hair coat; as she was very eye catching in the ring. Adri would have been so proud if she could have seen Hope get her Championship. Adri was my (Kay) best friend, and I am glad that we could fulfill her wish for Hope. When Pure Paws asked us to feature Hope in their newsletter, we shared Hope's story with them and they requested that they be able to share it with you. Thank you Pure Paws!
